Civil Society Organizations and Social Movements under the Land Sector Non-State Actors (LSNSA)
We are delighted to announce the upcoming LSNSA Breakfast Meeting, an important gathering organized by the Land Sector Non-State Actors (LSNSA). As a network of civil society organizations dedicated to promoting secure and equitable access to land and natural resources for all, we are committed to advocating for change through dialogue, advocacy, and capacity building.
The LSNSA Breakfast Meeting serves as a crucial platform for raising public awareness and addressing recent statements made by His Excellency President Dr. William Ruto on May 21, 2023, during a public rally in Isiolo County. President Ruto’s statements specifically addressed the valuation of properties conducted by the National Land Commission for Compulsory Acquisition.
During this event, we will aim to shed light on the proposed changes in the land sector and engage the government in a constructive dialogue regarding the implications of transferring valuation functions from the National Land Commission to the Ministry of Land. Furthermore, we will express our concerns regarding the role of Housing on Public Land in the proposed Land (Amendment) Bill, 2022.
The LSNSA Breakfast Meeting is an excellent opportunity for stakeholders from various sectors, including government officials, civil society representatives, experts, and concerned citizens, to come together and collectively address these critical issues. By fostering dialogue and promoting transparency, we hope to facilitate a better understanding of the proposed changes and their potential impact on land access and resource management.
