Public Lecture on Mainstreaming Social Safeguards and Adaptive Settlement Planning in Built Environment Education and Practice

Utafiti Sera House on Urban Governance and City Transformation in collaboration with the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) through the Department of Architecture, Design and Planning (DADP) and in partnership with the Association of Engineering, Construction and Architecture Students (AECAS-TUK) are hosting a Public Lecture on Social Safeguards in the Built Environment.

The public lecture will target students across built environment disciplines, including planning, engineering, architecture, surveying, and environmental studies, as well as faculty members. It aims to shape how students understand and apply social safeguards as a cross-cutting component of development practice. The House recognizes the critical role of universities in shaping the next generation of built environment professionals. The public lecture presents an opportunity to bridge theory, practice, and community knowledge, while contributing to the development of students who transition into professionals that are both technically competent and socially responsive.
